A new website for ACMI, Australia's national museum of screen culture.

A connected museum experience
ACMI's transformation required a digital experience that more closely connects physical and online engagement, bringing content together in a more integrated way.
Alongside a major redevelopment of its Fed Square site, ACMI introduced a new model and brand, placing digital at the centre of the experience. The result is a connected journey that extends beyond the building, enriching both in-person visits and online exploration.

Technology as the star of the show
The digital experience extends the museum beyond its physical space, translating the richness of an in-person visit into an immersive online journey.
At the heart of this is The Story of the Moving Image, a flagship exhibition delivered as a free online experience. It explores the cultural impact of film and media, allowing users to engage with the content wherever they are.
The experience is further enhanced through The Lens, a take-home digital tool that enables users to collect and revisit artworks and objects, creating a more continuous and personalised connection with the museum.

A complex, coordinated delivery
The project brought together expertise across strategy, UX, research, production and development, requiring close collaboration and disciplined delivery throughout.
The result is a platform that supports ACMI’s broader digital transformation, strengthening its global presence and reinforcing its position as a leading cultural institution.

Extending the museum experience
The project supports ACMI’s vision for a more ambitious digital presence, bringing its collection and storytelling into a new online format.
The result is a platform that extends the museum beyond its physical walls, creating a more accessible and connected experience.
