Using Your iPhone to Find That Song


Have you ever had a song stuck in your head and wished you could hear it instantly?

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head and wished you could hear it instantly? More so have you ever wondered about the name of a song you heard, but could only remember a few lyrics? Well you will be pleased to know that your iPhone contains a number of functions and applications that will help you solve these dilemmas!

Scenario 1


One of the most common scenarios is that you hear a song on the radio but don't know its name or who sings it. The first option is to use a nifty iPhone App called Shazam. Simply load the App, hold it (relatively) close to the speaker and let it listen for a few seconds. It will then send the music back to the "mother ship" and come back to you with the name, artist and where to purchase it from.

Scenario2

The song isn't playing but you recall a fraction of the lyrics. Simply open the browser on your iPhone, type in the lyrics in inverted commas (e.g. "....web designers are awesome, web designers are cool") and Google should give you a number of results, some of which will contain song lyrics and the artist (your results will vary depending how many words you enter). E.g.

Once you find the song details, open up iTunes and download the song. Easy!

The other night I was sitting in a restaurant, heard a song i liked, followed one of the steps above and within 2 minutes I had a the song downloaded and ready to play in my car for the ride home.
