Five Minutes with Jeff Yang, Head of Online Business Strategy for SEO Giant, E-Web Marketing


This month we interview Jeff Yang, Head of Online Business Strategy at E-Web Marketing, one of Australia's most successful SEO companies.

Q: So, what do you guys do?


Jeff: We help businesses increase their brand footprint and drive more enquiries and sales through their websites utilising the power of search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. In Australia alone, 9.8 million users use Google every month to search for products, services, media and information. Our qualified staff offer specialised services revolving around ranking your business above your online competitors. This of course attracts more qualified visitors who are looking for your products and services by implementing effective and ethical Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) methods and pay per click campaigns that provide great ROI. We also provide concise, in depth reporting and web analytics services allowing us to accurately track, measure and improve the success of any marketing campaign every month.

Q: Tell us about your audit of Brightlabs' content management system (iCMS)


Jeff: Upon our audit of the Brightlabs iCMS, we found it to be very user friendly and intuitive even to a beginner at online content management. Technically, we found iCMS to be very SEO friendly and therefore in our audit, we highlighted only a few areas of improvement from an SEO perspective, providing recommendations to remedy these areas. Now that Brightlabs and E-Web have worked together to implement our recommendations into iCMS, E-Web Marketing endorses iCMS as one of the most SEO Friendly CMS' in the world!

Q: What can you do for our clients and how soon can results be expected?


Jeff: No marketing campaign can be a success without first understanding the objectives of a website and then setting clear and measurable KPI’s and goals. Once this is done, E-Web Marketing can develop the ideal online marketing strategy to ensure these goals are met and often exceeded. An important step in this process is keyword research, selecting the right keywords/key phrases to properly communicate to your target audience is paramount in achieving the online business goals. Regarding SEO results, the first 3 months is where you will typically see some significant movement in your rankings across all major search engines. So by the time your less competitive keywords start to rank on the first page of Google and you start to realise your ROI, it’s usually 6 months into the campaign. Pay Per Click strategies such as Google Adwords have the ability to generate results much sooner as it doesn’t rely on Google to index and re-index your website which can weeks or even months.

Q: When is the best time to start with your services?


Jeff: If you already have an active website for your business, the time to start is now...the longer you wait the longer it will take for your business to attract more enquiries and/or sales. However, in the case of SEO, if you are looking to make any major changes to your website such as a re-design or implement a new CMS, it would be best to engage us before the changes are made so that we can provide specialised advice on content, design elements, navigation, back-end coding etc. Call to actions should be set up to achieve maximum SEO and sales conversions before your changes go live.

Q: How do you see E-Web performing over the next 12 months? Will you stay in the BRW Fast 100?


Jeff: We currently have a family of 33 talented and skilled staff and 2 weeks ago moved into our new, larger premises located on Level 2, 20 Chandos Street, St. Leonards, NSW with the sole purpose of expanding our workforce to 60 staff within 12 months. We aggressively aim to become the largest agency dedicated to providing a suite of online marketing services and are always looking at avenues to increase the effectiveness and speed of our services. We strive to increase the level of our clients’ satisfaction and exceed their expectations on a daily basis. For example, we are soon to roll out a 3 month projection plan for all our main services which will provide our clients with a forecast on their expected results along with more transparency and education on our industry and the work we do for them. E-Web Marketing was the only online marketing agency listed in the most recent BRW Fast 100 list which identified E-Web as the leader in our field...However, in 2010, we wish to set the benchmark as being the BEST online marketing agency in Australia!

Q: Is E-Web releasing any other new products or services that people should look out for?


Jeff: For a few years now we have been researching and developing technologies, services and strategies around using Social media such as Blogs, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to help business generate revenue. It’s no secret that social media has proven to deliver massive potential however very few know how to strategically harness and measure this potential so that it becomes a virtually unlimited source of new business opportunities. Now that we have the room to expand, we will soon be employing more specialised resources dedicated to our Social Media Optimisation division.
