Brightlabs Blister Sisters Go The Distance

The Brightlabs Blister Sisters completed a 50km walk from Mitchelton to Scarborough in Brisbane, to raise money for India's poorest and most needy. Congratulations on being the first team across the line!

Recently Lucy and Sandy took part in "Go the Extra Mile", a 50km endurance walking event aimed at raising funds for India's poorest and most needy; the Dalit children of India (otherwise known as Hinduism’s "untouchables").

An estimated 100 million Dalit Untouchable children live trapped in a world of extreme poverty in India. These children live a life of social injustice in some of the worst conditions imaginable. Some will spend their lives begging on the streets, some will be sold into hard physical labour from as early as five years old (India has the largest child workforce in the world) and most will suffer through a life of illiteracy, sickness and hunger with little hope of breaking the poverty cycle.

Our team, the Brightlabs Blister Sisters, walked from Mitchelton to Scarborough (see map below) and raised over $1000, every cent of which goes directly to the children.

Congratulations to the Blisters Sisters, who were the first group of walkers across the line, and who certainly earned their name after a blister-inducing walk of 7 hours and 45 minutes!
