Aussie Technology Wiki Launched by Delimiter

Australian technology publication Delimiter has launched a public wiki site purely focused on the Australian technology sector - its personalities, issues, companies, and events.

Since the introduction of wikis back in in the mid-90s, they have become a popular tool for ease-of-use content editing, and both public and internal information sharing. By far the most popular of all wikis is Wikipedia; ranked #6 of Alexa's top sites on the web. It is the foremost source of free information with high standards of reliability and quality of content. While not as big as Wikipedia, but still informative and valuable to us Australians, the new wiki launched by Delimiter, focuses on the Aussie technology industry.

Delimiter is a newly-spawned company run by Sydney-based journalist and writer Renai LeMay. They describe themselves as "passionate about just two things: Technology and Australia", so launching a public information source on the topic is a natural step. It was a little disappointing to find that the site is hosted on a server located in the United States (perhaps leading to the few performance issues I encountered) however the site looks like it could have the potential to be a good source of information covering the industry we work in

The wiki solely covers the Australian technology sector, including its personalities, companies, issues and memes; topics that are distinctly lacking from Wikipedia. It  features important dates of the last hundred years, current hot topics such as the proposed controversial internet filter, the big names and companies in the Australian IT sector, and a page on me.

This is a relatively new site so please contribute if you can, and be sure to take some articles with a grain of salt. The page on NanoPunk is one such example of curious content which is obviously (to any IT person) an inside joke, but it's good to see they threw in some Aussie humour. With a handy resource like this, a little-known fact could easily jump into a children's school report, and hopefully dispel some rumors - like a well-known project was built by "Emperor Nasi Goreng to keep the rabbits out" (explanation).
